My Fence or Deck is Gray and Weathered. What Should I Do?

The gray appearance that you see on the surface is mold and mildew growth.

If mold and mildew are present, the wood can be low-pressure cleaned with our wood cleaner followed by our wood brightener to restore the surface to its natural look. This process removes all of the mold, mildew, dirt and other debris from your fence and brings the wood grain back to the surface. Once this process is complete, after 24 hours we are able to come back out and get your fence or deck stained and protect it from weathering, warping and twisting.

It is best to do a soft wash with gentle cleaning chemicals once a year, to “sanitize” your wooden structures and to kill any organic growth that your fence or deck may accumulate. Other than general cleaning, it is best to apply a maintenance coat of stain to your fence every 2-3 years.
